A son has hit his 50-year-old father with a pole and subsequently severed throat after he fell down after a heated argument with his mum.
The victim has identified as Sellaih Sivegnanasundarama, was watering plants in his home with his wife when an argument broke out between them.
Upon hearing the argument, their son who was inside the house came out and promptly hit the father with a pole thinking that the he was yelling at him and subsequently slashed his throat with a knife out of fury.
Police said that they have arrested the suspect and revealed that there had been a dispute between the father and the son over land for some time.
During investigations, police officials at the Aranayake station, disclosed that plans have been concluded to make the suspect available at the Mawanella magistrate court.
