When contacted, the Head, Department of English in UNIJOS, Prof. Jeff Doki, said the deceased was a spillover student, waiting for mobilisation by the National Youth Service Corp, after completing her project.

“I have lost three students since I became HOD in 2021, two males in July and September this year, 2022, during the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities,” he told our correspondent.

The HOD directed other lecturers to provide information on the WhatsApp group of the department.

Doki said, “Information reaching me indicates that the girl who was killed last Saturday night at Farin Gada is a spillover student of our department. She was supervised by Dr Douglas Kaze and had issues with her long essay. Perhaps she is done with the project perhaps she is not.

“I am requesting Dr Kaze and Mrs Vera Aaron and Mr Innocent Dajang to kindly provide information about her on this page, please. Her name is Ruth Yakadi. She is Anaguta by the tribe.

“Information available shows the girl was raped and killed thereafter. As things stand now, we are wondering if they are rapists or assassins.”

Alfred Alabo, the spokesperson of Plateau State Police Command, also confirmed the incident.

“You even have information about it more than me. The long and short of it is that we are aware of the incident. An investigation is on and when we’re done, we will get back to you,” he said.

SAD: ‘Out Of 11,000 Cases, Nigeria Has Recorded Only 33 Rape Convictions’ – Minister Says

Pauline Tallen, the minister of women’s affairs, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, said over 11,000 rape cases had been recorded in Nigeria with only 33 culprits convicted.

The minister said 401 of the cases were fatal cases; while 592 close and 3507 open.

She spoke in Abuja on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the orange ceremony and lighting of the UN house, which took place in commemoration of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

She said harmful cultural stereotypes, failures of law enforcement to investigate rape cases, toxic misogyny, and insufficient support for survivors had created a culture of silence and impunity that continued to fail hundreds of women and girls every year.

“Concrete actions have not been taken to tackle the rape crisis in Nigeria with the seriousness it deserves. Women and girls continue to be failed by a system that makes it increasingly difficult for survivors to get justice, while allowing perpetrators to get away with gross human rights violations,” she said.

36-Year-Old Homosexual Man Rapes 5-Year-Old Boy To Death In Ogun

Sikiru Ajibola, a 36-year-old homosexual, allegedly sodomized a five-year-old boy till he died in Ogun State.

Daily Post learnt that the incident happened on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

The police arrested the suspect following a report lodged at the Ogijo Police Station by the Chairman of the Olorunwa Arogbeja community in Ogijo.

Arogbeja had reported to the police that a community member told him the suspect had sodomized the victim, adding that the boy died in the process.

Upon the report, the DPO of Ogijo division, CSP Enatufe Omoh, was said to have detailed his men to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.

“He has also taken policemen to where the deceased was buried,” Oyeyemi said.
