The occupants of house number 3, Ladele Dada Street in Surulere Lagos, were thrown into confusion when armed policemen chased them out of the building on Monday, March 2, 2015 following the sale of the property by the daughter of the late owner of the house without his knowledge.
A statement from the buyer revealed that the first daughter of the landlord, Mrs. Ololo had sold the house to him about 15 years ago without the knowledge of her father. So immediately the man died, he approached her to claim ownership of the house which resulted in a court case which he won.
On winning the case, the new owner took policemen to the property to lay claims hereby chasing out the tenants who didn’t know anything about the sale or court case involving the property.
While speaking to the police, one of the oldest tenants who has been living in the house since 1984 said;
“Police and some other people stormed the building around 10:00am on 2nd March, 2015. They said they are on court order to evacuate tenants out of the house as the house ownership has been transferred to the buyer.
“I have been living here since 1984 and in fact the first receipt I received from the landlord is still with me, the buyer just showed up and threw us out without any prior notice.” he said
