Bashir Mohammed, the minority leader of the Taraba State House of Assembly, was on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, kidnapped from his residence in Jalingo.
Bashir hails from Sardauna Local Government Area.
Police spokesman David Misal said Bashir from was abducted up after sporadic gun shots were heard around his house located next to the Comprehensive Secondary School in Jalingo.
Misal said the police and sister security agencies were working to rescue the victim.
According to him, the abductors were yet to contact the family.
Bashir is the second lawmaker to be kidnapped. Hosea Ibi, who represented Takum I, was kidnapped and killed in December 2017.
