The lives of two school children were cut short after a water tanker rammed into them around the popular Ipata market on their way to school in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Trent learnt that the tragic incident happened after the brakes of the tanker reportedly failed on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Two other persons were said to have sustained major injuries in the incident which happened at about 12pm.
The driver of the tanker escaped the scene to avoid being lynched while the youths in the area reportedly damaged the vehicle.
Confirming the incident to journalists, the state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Sunday Maku, stated that investigations have been launched into the incident.
Maku further disclosed that a manhunt has been launched to arrest the fleeing tanker driver.
