A man popularly known as ‘The Lunatic’ who disguised himself as a mad man has been arrested with fresh human parts at the ring road, in Borno State
A report by Sahara Reporters indicated that the man, believed to be a ritualist had been pretending to be a lunatic over the past three years.
Sources revealed to Sahara Reporters that the middle-aged man whose identity was not disclosed, had been living at the Oni and Son bus stop, a popular junction for commuters where beggars were usually seen.
However, on the fateful day of his arrest, a trade in the area was said to be passing by and saw an unusual sight of blood dripping down a black bag which the supposed mad man bore.
The eye-witness developed a keen interest and monitored the man’s movement for about thirty minutes, and then raised an alarm demanding to search the bag.
Observers were stunned at the sight of twenty five (25) human tongues which were found inside the bag including fresh ones which were blood-soaked.
The ‘lunatic’ would have had a fair share of lynching from an angry mob but for the timely intervention of some officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and the Borno State Police Command who arrived the scene and arrested him.
“They would have killed him because the people were really mad, and angry at the man, but with the intervention of our officers and policemen…, he was spared,” an NSCDC officer said.
Among the things recovered under the bridge where he kept his belongings were various campaign posters, dangerous weapons like dagger.
Also, there were lots of ladies clothes, bracelets, underwear which instilled suspicions and speculations from the police that most of the victims were ladies.
An official of the NSCDC earlier revealed that some human bones, and fresh human parts, were sighted under the bridge were the lunatic always slept at night.
