Two farmers were killed by men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in Ebu community in Delta State.
The indent happened on Thursday, December 24, 2015 four days after communities in Isoko and Ndokwa areas banned herdsmen from grazing on their land.
It was alleged that three acres of farmlands belonging to the communities were set ablaze and their economic crops destroyed by the suspects, Punch reports.
A resident of the community, Mrs. Esther Dibi, said the action of the suspected herdsmen had brought hunger to residents of the community and called on the state government to come to their aid.
She said, “The inferno spread into the broken down buses parked beside the farmlands and consumed all the economic crops.
“We have had enough from these herdsmen who involve themselves in illegal and dangerous activities on our farmlands. We can no longer go to the farm without expressing fears of the unknown.”
The corpses of the two farmers were deposited at the Ogwashi-Uku General Hospital mortuary in the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, confirmed that the duo were killed with hard objects, adding that three persons have been arrested and would be charged to court after investigation.
