Pandemonium As Hoodlums Attack Lafia Market In Nasarawa

Some Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had on the evening of Tuesday, October 14, 2014, invaded opened fire on  a local market along Lafia-Shemdam road.

Speaking about the event, an eye witness who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the suspected Fulani herdsmen who used automatic rifles during the attack razed down some shops, destroyed lots of goods and eventually damaged over six automobiles in the market raid

According to Channels TV report, the Ashangwa market located in an Eggon community before Asakyo in Lafia East Development Area, is said to be the target of the hoodlums who halted all the business activities following their attack.

No casualties have been recorded yet as at the time of the report.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Nasarawa Command, Umar Nuuman, disclosed that some unknown armed bandits started shooting at a particular car which they have been following.

He further stated that the Joint Security Committee in the state has calmed the situation adding that  they are already in the process of the investigation.
