A group of gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram Islamist sect on Thursday, December 4, 2014 invaded two different towns in Gombe state.
Residents of the area disclosed that the gunmen also raided banks and set some government buildings as well as political party offices ablaze.
According to them, scores of gunmen dressed in military uniform arrived in Bajoga, 60 kilometres (37 miles) from Gombe city in a convoy of 20 vehicles.
The incident reportedly took place at 7 AM precisely.
It was learnt that some soldiers who were deployed to the area to calm the situation only managed to push the attackers out before they drove towards the town of Ashaka which is five kilometres away and near the border with Yobe state to the northeast.
