The Supreme Court on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 upheld the election of Ayo Fayose as the Ekiti State Governor.
The court ruled in favour of Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a case brought against him by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The candidate of the APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, lost the election to Fayose in the elections held in the state in 2014.
The APC had gone to the highest court of the land seeking a determination of whether Fayose was still qualified to stand for election despite his indictment by a panel and whether by virtue of the alleged partiality of the military in the 2014 election, the outcome should still be allowed to stand.
