Nigeria’s Super Eagles moved up three places in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola World Ranking that was released earlier on Thursday in Zurich.
The three-time African champions moved from 66th to 63rd in the latest ranking for the month of February, gaining three points in the process from 540 to 543.
Nigeria are still however outside the top 10 in Africa having moved two places from 14th to 12th on the continent. Cote D’Ivoire are still the number one ranked team in the continent despite dropping from 19th to 28th position while Cape Verde Islands have leapfrogged both Algeria and Ghana into second spot moving six places to 33rd.
In the world ranking, Belgium maintained the top position, followed by South America former champions, Argentina in second position, Spain, Germany and Chile occupy third, fourth and fifth positions respectively. Brazil, Portugal and Columbia are sixth, seventh and eight best teams in the world, while England and Austria are placed in ninth and tenth positions in the ranking.
Meanwhile, the next FIFA/Coca-Cola ranking will be released February 3rd, 2016.
