A male student of the Ekiti State University had his head ripped open over the weekend during a clash between the All Progress Congress and the People’s Democratic Party in the state.
The student whose name was not mentioned bled profusely from the cut which he sustained precisely on Saturday January 24, 2014.
According to reports, the fight allegedly started after the police arrested the national Vice-President, External, National Association of Nigerian Students, Tosin Ogunkuade for speaking during the APC presidential campaign.
Contrary to the claims, the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose stated that the arrested persons were political thugs from the APC who were trying to cause chaos during the campaign.
The state police did not make any statement as regards confirming or refuting the attack.
Meanwhile, the severely injured student is said to be currently receiving medical care in an undisclosed hospital.
