NAN- A 20 year old student named Monday Prayer accused of stealing a cell phone worth N10, 000 has been remanded in Keffi Prisons following directives of a Grade 1 Area Court in Aso Pada in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
The order was giving by the presiding Judge, Mr. Albert Maga, even though the accused pleaded not guilty to the offence. According to the prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, the complaint about the stolen Tecno phone was made on May, 27, 2015 by a Mr. Yayock Shedrach of Tudun Wada at the ‘A’ Divisonal Police Station in Mararaba.
The prosecutor also told the court that when the complainant was on his way home after making the report at about 6:00pm, the accused went behind him and used a sharp object to injure him on the right hand.
“After collecting the phone, the accused escaped with it before he was apprehended and the said phone was recovered from him,” Adaji said.
The accused was brought before the court based on Section 292 of the Penal Code. The court adjourned the case till Monday, June 8, 2015 for further hearing.
