Michael Ogbeise, a secondary school student has beaten his teacher to death in the university community of Abraka, Ethiope East council area of Delta State.
The incident occurred on Thursday, December 2, 2021, in Erhemu Secondary School located in the university community of Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
The assailant, Master Ogbeife, said to be a Senior Secondary School 3 student, reportedly descended on his teacher, Joseph, for allegedly flogging his sister, Promise Ogbeise.
Promise was said to have fought with one of her classmates, leading to her being disciplined by the teacher.
It was gathered that the teacher, identified simply as Joseph was, until his death, in charge of Agricultural Science and Biology subjects in the private school.
Michael reportedly left the school’s premises angrily, after seeing his sister being flogged and returned to confront the teacher in the staff office.
He was said to have punched the teacher leaving him with a bloody nose, which left to his eventual collapse.
The teacher was rushed to a private hospital in the community, then to a government hospital where sources said he was confirmed dead.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Bright Edafe, said that the suspect is on the run.
“The suspect is nowhere to be found for now, but her sister is in a protective custody,” he said.
Meanwhile, the school has been shut down by the proprietor.
