Stop Blaming Jonathan For Your Obvious Failures, Delta Speaker Warns Buhari

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Monday Igbuya, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari to stop blaming former President Goodluck Jonathan for his obvious failures in the administration of the country.

President Buhari and his ministers, especially Lai Mohammed, Ibe Kachikwu and Babatunde Fashola, ministers of information, petroleum and power respectively have been blaming the woeful failure of the Buhari’s government of Goodluck Jonathan.

They have, on several occasions, said they are cleaning the mess left behind by the Jonathan government, an attempt aimed at rubbishing the Jonathan’s administration which has earned him recognition and accolades from the global community.

The Delta speaker, who called on Buhari to focus on delivering on his campaign promises, said he should wake up to the realities on ground and prepare to give account of his stewardship after the one year in office as president.

Igbuya spoke on Tuesday May 10, 2016 in Asaba, Delta State, after the conduct of the state PDP congress where Barrister Kingsley Esiso emerged as the state party chairman after the rancor free election.

Following the successful conduct of the state PDP congress across the country, Igbuya said the PDP is ready to take over power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national level, insisting that all the mistakes made that led to the party’s failure in 2015 are being addressed, making the party ready for a successful outing in 2019.

“We need to move forward. By 2019, Nigerians will decide who will be their next leader, having compared the administration of Jonathan with that of Muhammadu Buhari,” the speaker said.

He advised the new state chairman to be focused and take the party to an enviable height in the state.

According to him, “Barrister Esiso is no stranger to party administration. His success is no surprise to those who have observed his journey in politics. His victory is a clear sign of the trust and confidence that the people have in him.

“The 2015 election brought new challenges to the party. Your leadership will be crucial in 2019. You must work hard to overcome the challenges of 2015 with determination, courage and optimism.”

He also expressed admiration for Delta’s tremendous achievements under the PDP’s leadership in the state.

He said the PDP has made outstanding achievements in boosting the state’s economic and social development as well as leading the people to overcome difficulties and challenges.

“The PDP must continue to keep Delta State safe, grow opportunity for everyone. It must continue to be the party of assistance, aspiration and achievement.

It must continue to defuse social conflicts and give a sense of belonging to the various ethnic groups.

It must continue to spread employment opportunities across the state and ensure every youth has access to quality education that could secure them a place in a globalized and highly competitive job market.

“I am grateful for your efforts in what we have accomplished and what we are going to accomplish in 2019. We are going to have victory in 2019,” the speaker said.
