#StealingIsNotCorruption Court Throws Out N19.2 Billion Criminal Charge Against APC’s Sylva

Must read

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 threw out the N19.2 billion criminal case against former Bayelsa State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Sylva for allegedly stealing N19.2 billion from the coffers of the Bayelsa State government using three companies – Marlin Maritime Limited, Eat Catering Services Limited and Haloween Blue Construction and Logistics Limited – from 2009 to 2012.

Ruling on the case, Justice Ahmed Mohammed described the charge as an abuse of court process.

It would be recalled that the EFCC had last week dropped N2.45 billion corruption charge against the former governor.

Sylva acted as the head of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s delegation in the transition committee meant to usher in the new government.
