If there was a competition for righteousness, three men would win it: Noah, Daniel, and Job were righteous men in their generations; they had the records for being very righteous, even God testified that there was no one like them in their time.
Their righteousness was the righteousness based on works; earned righteousness: there’s another kind of righteousness that’s based on faith; imputed righteousness. The latter is the one that Abraham had: “For what does the Scripture say? ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.'” Romans 4:3
We are righteous today, not because of our works, but by faith. With the heart we believed unto righteousness, and with our mouths, confession was made unto salvation. We don’t talk about our own righteousness; we talk about His righteousness that was freely given unto us. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! Hallelujah!!!
