[pull_quote_center]”For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.” Ezra 7:10[/pull_quote_center]
Ezra did three things with the word of God that every one of us should do: he sought it, did it, and taught it. We should seek the word of God passionately, like David to whom the word was as sweet as honey, and more important than thousands of coins of gold and silver. And of course, we should be doers of the word.
But notice that Ezra first prepared his heart. That’s determination, and an attitude towards the word of God. How many of us today are as determined as Ezra was. Not many of us are living by the word; a lot of us don’t even know what the word says about several issues of life: how then can we live by it and teach it.
We must have the right attitude for the word of God. Jesus never disregarded the written word, even though He was the Living Word. The word of God is not only profitable for warfare prayers and preaching; it is first for daily living.
Prepare your heart today to always live by the word of God. Let the word rule over your personal feelings and desires. Let what the word says override every other word and opinion. It may not be always easy to do the word, that’s why you’ve got to be determined. Honouring the word is honouring the Author of the word, and when we honour God He will honour us. Amen.
