God can do everything, but He won’t do everything. He wants us to pray always, but He won’t answer every prayer we pray. He answers prayers according to His willingness.
Jesus was about to die; it wasn’t an ordinary death; He was going to be tortured and killed slowly: it wasn’t easy, so He prayed that God would prevent it from happening. But Isaiah had already prophesied that “it pleased the Lord to bruise Him.” Isaiah 53:10. You see, just because it’s difficult and tough doesn’t mean it isn’t God’s will for you; sometimes God will want you to go through tough situations for a great purpose.
God answers prayers that are in line with His will and purposes for our respective individual lives. John said, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” I John 5:14. Therefore, as you pray, be willing to subject yourself to His will. David’s prayers always began with, “Lord, should I go?” He didn’t pray for victory without being sure that it was God’s will for Him to go to war. If we can change our prayers, we would have more answers. God will always get His will done on earth (Matthew 6:10). Know His will, and you will always receive answers. Amen.
