1 Samuel 16:7 ERV “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Eliab is tall and handsome, but don’t judge by things like that. God doesn’t look at what people see. People judge by what is on the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart. Eliab is not the right man.”
I’m trying to put myself in Eliab’s shoes for a moment; what does it feel like to be rejected, not by man but by God? I think I have an idea because I’ve been rejected by man: but thank God not by God!
There are lots of Christians working hard to look good physically, like Eliab, they invest a lot to look handsome and beautiful, but they are not working at having the kind of heart that God desires. They are working hard to speak right, to write well, to appear better than others; that’s good, but God is looking at our hearts!
May it never be said that I’m not the right man! When God looks at my heart, may He be pleased with what He sees! Dear Father, Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart always be acceptable in Your sight. May I always be the man You can use!
