Matthew 5:14 ERV “You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden.”
John Maxwell said that leadership is influence. Being Christians makes us leaders in the world. But some of us haven’t understood that. Jesus called us lights; and as lights we have a duty to show men how to live. Men should observe how different we are from them and be influenced by us. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never live in darkness. They will have the light that gives life.” John 8:12. We should be able to say that.
You are a star! Philippians 2:14-15 says “Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you will be blameless and pure, children of God without any fault. But you are living with evil people all around you, who have lost their sense of what is right. Among those people you shine like lights in a dark world.”
Be a positive influence in society, at home and at work. Ephesians 5:8-11 says “In the past you were full of darkness, but now you are full of light in the Lord. So live like children who belong to the light. This light produces every kind of goodness, right living, and truth. Try to learn what pleases the Lord. Have no part in the things that people in darkness do, which produce nothing good. Instead, tell everyone how wrong those things are.” That’s our mandate.
