I Corinthians 10:1, 3, 5 NKJV “Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.”
Note that they all had the same experiences: but they were not at all saved by those experiences. They saw great signs and wonders, they heard God speak, they saw clouds, they saw angels and a lot more; they even ate the food of angels, yet many of them died in the wilderness despite having those great and awesome experiences.
Experiences don’t save. It’s what happens to you as a result of your experiences that matter. The ultimate goal of any minister should not be to get his hearers to have a sweet experience as a result of their songs or messages, the ultimate goal is for something lasting to happen within them as they listen to you.
Don’t base your faith on mere experiences; it’s sinking sand! The truth is that experiences are temporal, and subject to change. Christianity is not all about having good experiences, there are times when you will be tried and tested with unpleasant experiences. Let your faith be in God and in His word; permit the word to transform you; trust God that no matter what He is always with you and that all things are working together for your good!
