“So we have these three witnesses — the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree.” – 1 John 5:7-8 NLT
When you believe in Jesus, you are washed in the blood. You should be baptized in water immediately by immersion, even though that’s not the usual experience. And then, you should also receive the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of either speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (not tongues learned), or prophecy.
It’s possible to receive the Holy Spirit immediately you are saved, before baptism in water. That’s what happened in the case of Cornelius and his associates. The Bible says that, “As Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, ‘Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?’ So he gave orders for them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.”
After you are born again, don’t be satisfied until you have received the Holy Spirit; with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. I say this because of wrong doctrines regarding this. When the Holy Spirit comes upon a man there will be an undeniable proof. And don’t be content with being filled once; be filled again and again with the Spirit as you pray, worship and spend time in His presence. Amen.
