Anger has damaged countless relationships between parents and children, husbands and wives, leaders and followers, lovers, colleagues and friends. It has also destroyed relationships among believers. And it’s not just relationships that get ruined; it affects fellowship, business, progress, sanity, upbringing and so much more.
Some of us have a habit of justifying anger, even with Bible verses. Listen, there will always be provocation and reasons to get angry, but our ability to control our emotions is what makes us different. The fruit of the Spirit is self-control!
James 1:19-20 says, “You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.” Anger is classified as an evil behaviour. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
