Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were ready to die for their faith in God; they knew that God could save them but they weren’t certain that He would. King Nebuchadnezzar ordered that they be thrown into the furnace of fire; they must have said their last prayers; and they surrendered themselves to the soldiers of the king to be thrown into the fire without hesitation.
The fire was so hot that it killed the men who threw them into the fire. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego must have thought that it was their ghosts walking around in the fire; they landed in the fire, but they felt no heat! Everyone watched in amazement, and then the eyes of king Nebuchadnezzar were opened to see the Lord right there in the fire with them! Wow, it must have been a very glorious sight!
Brothers and sisters, God is always with you even when it seems that He is far away. When trouble comes, fear not! When you go through deep waters, God will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, God will not let you drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Come on, shout hallelujah!
