“He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.” – I John 2:9 NKJV
So many people profess to be Christians; they are called “professing Christians”, but they are not really Christians. You see, they have said that they are Christians again and again, for many years; their parents told them that they are Christians, and they go to church, so that have believed their own lies, and they think that they are Christians.
Apostle John said that whoever “says” he is in the light, but hates other people, is still in the darkness. In order words, it’s not really about what you confess! Think about that for a moment.
You can make confessions all that about who you think you are; and you can actually train your mind to accept it as the truth about who you are; but it will never change who you really are. We can fool ourselves; we can fool the church; and we can fool the world; but one Person who is never fooled is God. He doesn’t work by our words, He judges by our actions – our works. It’s quite scary, to think that on that day, many will appear before Him hoping to be accepted into eternal life, but He will say to them, “Depart from me, you workers of iniquity, for I know you not.”
It’s not about your titles or how long you’ve been going to church, or how active you are in church. It’s time to tell ourselves the truth and make the right decisions about our destinies.
