“And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” – Jeremiah 29:7 NKJV
We all belong to a place – a country, a state, a community, an organisation, a church, a school, etc; they go by different names: place of work, place of residence, place of schooling, place of origin, place of worship, place of primary assignment, etc.
What many of us haven’t realized is the connection between us and the places we are in, especially when it is the place God put us in. When God blessed Isaac, He blessed him in the land where He asked him to dwell. Isaac did not live there forever, but for as long as he was there that’s where he was blessed.
God wants us to pray for the places where we are. When you pray for peace to be in a place, you would enjoy the peace there; when you pray for its progress and prosperity, you would make progress and prosper in it. Don’t be one of those who curses their country, state and place of work: you can’t keep doing that and expect God to bless you there; you would probably have to leave that place first! As a Christian, everywhere the soles of your feet treads upon belongs to you; so see everywhere you are as your place and become an intercessor for that place. You will be blessed as you do, in Jesus name. Amen.
