Spirit And Life Devotional: The Comfort Of The Scriptures

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

[pull_quote_center]”For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” Romans 15:4 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]

Words are powerful; they can heal, they can destroy; words can inspire and motivate people to achieve great deeds, words can inflict pain; and words can affect a person’s perception of himself. But words, even though they are powerful, their impact on your life or on your circumstances depend on how you receive them.

Let me explain: the Bible says in Hebrews that the word received did not profit the hearers because they did not receive it with faith. A word is effective only if you believe it and receive it with joy. You’ve got to submit yourself to the word; you’ve got to give the word the permission it needs to operate in your life and on your behalf.

The word of God gives comfort; hallelujah! When you are overwhelmed by the challenges of life; when your heart has been broken; when you are in a state of confusion; when you need answers to issues of life; the word of God is there for comfort. Maybe you have a friend or client who has gone through tough and rough times, and you’re wondering what to say to them; check the word! There’s a word in there for them. 1 Thessalonians 4:18 says, “Therefore comfort one another with these words.” Amen.
