Spirit And Life Devotional: Receiving The Promise Of The Spirit

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

[dropcap]John 7:37 “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.”[/dropcap]

When Jesus made that statement, He was talking about the Holy Spirit (John 7:39). He said that anyone who believes in Him will receive the Holy Spirit – “out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

The Holy Spirit is not for a selected few, neither is it for only Christian leaders and workers; the Holy Spirit is for everyone who believes in Jesus. Acts 2:39 says the promise is for everyone called by God unto salvation. Hallelujah!

You don’t need to sleep on a mountain before you receive the Holy Spirit, neither do you have to cry and fast and pray for forty days and forty nights for it: you became qualified to receive the Holy Spirit the moment you believe in Jesus and was saved. God desires to give you the Holy Spirit more than you desire to receive Him. While Peter was still preaching to Cornelius and his friends, the Holy Spirit fell on them! Receive the Holy Spirit now, in Jesus name! Amen.
