The Israelites were rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem, and according to the Bible, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored, they became very angry, and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. You know, some people are just as evil as those guys; they want to continue to profit from such disorder.
Now, here’s how the Israelites, under the leadership of Nehemiah responded: first, they prayed to God for protection, and second, they set a watch against them day and night.
There’s a lot to learn from that: you see, you can’t be praying for prosperity, for instance, and not do anything (work, business, investments) that God can use to prosper you; you’ve got to pray and then take action! If you want a job, pray and then submit your curriculum vitae to the organizations that you wish to work for; if you want to get married, pray guys, and then go out there and search for her; and ladies, when you pray, also try to be in places where men can find you! Check the Scriptures, miracles happened as people took action.
