[pull_quote_center]”But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, ‘Send her away, for she cries out after us.'” Matthew 15:23 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]
I love the story of the Gentile woman: her daughter was demon-possessed and she wanted Jesus to heal her. But Jesus ignored her! Imagine that for a moment: some of us would have gotten angry and called Him names. Not only was she ignored, the disciples asked Jesus to send her away! So she was ignored and rejected; that was enough reason for her to quit. But she didn’t! Jesus finally responded, but only to further discourage her, He made it clear that she wasn’t qualified for a miracle; He even called her a dog! So she was ignored, rejected, made to feel unqualified and even inferior! Yet, that woman refused to give up! Instead, it was Jesus who gave up, He said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour! Hallelujah!
When you want something, don’t always think that it will be given to you on a platter of gold; sometimes, when you embark on a project, you might not achieve your goals at first, you may fail, the resources you need may not be readily available, people may disappoint you; there may be lots of bottlenecks; people may not be willing to approve your request… Maybe you’ve written a particular exam several times and you’ve made up your mind to quit… I’ve got just one word for you today: Persist! Don’t be the first to quit, it may take a while but if you really want it you will get it eventually. You will not be denied in Jesus name. Amen.
