Spirit And Life Devotional: Guilty As Charged

Must read

[pull_quote_center]”Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely.” Luke 14:1 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]

The Pharisees didn’t watch Jesus to catch Him looking lustfully at a woman, or doing something wrong, no, they knew that they would never catch Him doing such; it was a Sabbath, and they knew that if there was a sick man there, Jesus would certainly heal him. Sabbath or no Sabbath.

Reminds me of Daniel. He was made a president by Darius and he was the preferred one. The other presidents and princes were jealous of him and so tried to bring him down. They checked all the records, audited all his financial transactions, reviewed all his actions and appointments for irregularities, but found none. They found no fault! Daniel was too good! But they were not going to give up that easily: they said, “We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.” They got the king to make a decree, that whosoever asked a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of the king, should be cast into the den of lions. Then they watched Daniel. They knew that he would fall into their trap. Well, Daniel didn’t care; he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Tell me, what are you guilty of? Is there anything about the faith that can be used against you? Are you guilty of preaching and praying in the office? Are you guilty of praying too loud? Are you guilty of mentioning the name of “God”, “Jesus” and the “Bible” when the world wants you to use words like “higher power”, “supreme being” and “holy book”? Are you guilty of praying in buses, at meetings, etc? Are you guilty of sharing broadcasts and posts that glorify God or are you too “tush” for “religious” stuff? Are you guilty of closing from work early in order to go to church? Are you guilty of not cooperating with others to falsify records? Don’t know about you, but I don’t mind being guilty. Let them watch me as closely as they can, but I ain’t going to back down. Guilty as charged!
