Have you met someone who loves movies, or football? If they had their way they could sit down watching movies or football games all day! I know a guy who had a full exercise book for all games played by Manchester United Football Club; in it were scores and other data about the club for over five years! I don’t think I’ve met anyone more passionate about football or a team, than him. That’s what it means to delight yourself in something.
Are you sincerely delighting yourself in the word of God? Tell me, how often do you read the Bible? And when you do read it, do you read it as an obligation or with passion? Does reading and meditating on the Scriptures excite you? Does sharing it with others make you feel fulfilled and satisfied? David said that he rejoiced at the word as one that found a great spoil!
Psalms 1:1-3 says, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
