Spirit And Life Devotional: Hoping For The Promise

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

“In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.” – Titus 1:2 NKJV

To promise, simply put, is to assure someone that one will definitely do something or that something will happen. Sadly, it’s not something a lot of us are good at: we take money from people with a promise to pay back at a certain time but we don’t; we promise to love someone forever but we don’t, and we have “very good” excuses why we didn’t fulfill our promises! May God help us.

But thankfully, God is God and not like us. Imagine if God is like us: the world wouldn’t be in existence by now! But you see, God made a promise to Noah never to destroy the world with water again, and He placed the rainbow in the sky as a reminder of His promise; and God has kept His promise for thousands of years.

That’s God for you; He has never lied before and He is incapable of telling a lie! Do you understand? It is impossible for Him to tell lies! The sun would literally explode the day God tells a lie; and every creation would vanish! But God cannot lie! Hallelujah! That’s why we continue to hope for the fulfilment of His promises to us. It may take some time, but we will always be hopeful, because we know that God did not lie to us. Yes! Glory to Him!
