[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he law does not recognize a vacuum. Where a vacuum exists, the law in itself must be applied to fill it. Law in this instance does not exclude the law of social and natural justices.
The current category of persons parading as leader in today’s Nigeria are misfits. Some of them are urchins but they are bold. They have been emboldened!
This is so because the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan did not exert the kind of force required to tame them permanently.
Some of His aides concerned themselves with only exploiting the system and stealing raw cash in foreign currencies and large quantities. The mistook his civility for ignorance and indecision and carried on with impunity and crass recklessness.
Theirs was so glaring that current President Muhammadu Buhari suddenly translated to a saint and found impetus to launch another question for power backed by the likes of Rotimi Chubuike, Rochas Okorocha, Dino Melaye, Late Audu Abubakar, Sani Yerima and Bola Tinubu.
Ordinary, at this stage of nationhood, characters like Prof. Pat Utomi, Sam Ndi Isaiah, Ken Nnamani, Leo Stan Ekeh, Adebayo Ogunlesi, Tony Elumelu, Ngozi Okonjo, ‘Rahman Pate, Christopher Kolade should be forming our narrative as a people navigating towards excellence on all fronts but what do we have? A Lai Mohammed and Garba Shehu dictating the direction towards which our ship of nationhood should head.
Do not blame Olusegun Obasanjo for still remaining in circulation as a moral compass.
Do not blame the men who once headed dreaded military juntas.
You should rather cast aspersions on people who should ordinarily be above board but have by their actions and inactions made it inevitable for bad eggs to be confined to pages of history books.
