#SoundOff: I Understand Why Buhari Failed To Visit Scene Of Abuja Bombings

Must read

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]perfectly understand why President Buhari did not go out to visit the site of the bomb blasts in Abuja today. Perhaps he would later, when it won’t be needed. But I perfectly understand why he couldn’t today.

He was tired. He is an old man and has just come back from a gruelling four day trip from New York and is still jet lagged. He needs to rest a bit.

And so he had to send a delegation on his behalf to check things for him.

I perfectly understand.

He’s the President and it’s important not to criticise him in this regard like we did his predecessor who ensured he visited the sites of the five bomb blasts in Abuja within hours during his time. The UN blast, the Police HQ blast, the October 1st 2010 blast and the two blasts at Nyanya in 2014. Buhari is taking his time to sort things out.

I perfectly understand.

And yes, I perfectly understand why the vicious and snarling opposing press before the elections are now docile and blind to the increasing carnage and insecurity in the land for the past three months. And why they didn’t make much noise about this Abuja blast so it won’t make the government look bad as major aspects of the press are now compromised and completely under the payroll of their masters in power.

I perfectly understand.

And I don’t begrudge them nor blame them. They will find a nexus between conscience and hypocrisy soon. It will come to that. So, let’s allow them to build the nation with bricks of blindness.

Or don’t you perfectly understand?

Me? I understand totally.

God bless Nigeria.
