In concretization of his policy of making major pronouncements ONLY from abroad, President Muhammadu Buhari has told the world that those who looted the country’s funds have started returning same.
Fantastic!
Maybe, we’ll have enough money to execute the proposed N8 trillion 2016 budget afterall.
One can even forgive the hypocritical secrecy surrounding the identities and amounts involved in a govt that came to power on a plank of transparency.
But Mr. President put a most embarrassingly curious twist to the revelation. He said his government was still looking for “hard evidence” with which to take the looters to court.
And I was VERY puzzled!
Wait o… how can someone surrender self-implicating evidence to you yet you’re looking for evidence to prosecute that person? I don’t get it!
And if the “we found fraud everywhere” headline months ago is anything to go by, why would Buhari say he’s still looking for evidence?
What’s going on?
