[dropcap]R[/dropcap]etired Rear Admiral Alison Madueke (Rtd). Probably the most important Igbo leader alive today. He is both quiet and unassuming but very respected by the establishment and feared by the Northern powers-that-be. Very feared.
Madueke, it was, who as Chief of Naval Staff in 1994, at the risk of his life, stood up at the Supreme Military Council presided by the late dictator, General Sani Abacha and told him, point blank, that Abacha should release presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential elections, Chief Moshood Abiola from detention over the political embasse of the time.
A shocked General Abacha had to retire him from the Navy after that courageous stand, especially when Abacha found out that Madueke was too powerful an individual to mess with.
I did my research. I contacted sources. Alison Madueke is ultra-powerful.
Let me see how Buhari with all his “kati kati” about jailing oil merchants will touch Alison Madueke’s wife, Diezani, former Petroleum Minister.
