On further reflection, I don’t see why President Muhammadu Buhari cannot just appoint four to five key ministers in addition to the Secretary to the Federal Government and a Chief of Staff.
We urgently need someone to take charge at the Ministry of Finance, Foreign Affairs and National Orientation. The economy seems to be on roller-coaster, and there’s generally an air of inactivity pervading the whole country. Foreign investors and business cannot wait till September to know what’s up, as per Buhari’s economic policy.
Saying that we can’t find these five people because most of the good people have been compromised is, to say the least, very disturbing and indicative of lack of effort or preparation or both.
We must take some risks with some people. Besides, the parable of the fish head is a good guide here… like Jonathan’s men followed his lead, Buhari’s will also follow his, bad as things prevalent seem.
Those close to Buhari should tell him he doesn’t have to assemble the whole team before he gets down to serious business, deep and messy as the rot admittedly left by his predecessor may be.
