Soldiers Beat Up Doctors And Nurses In Hospital For Rejecting Colleague’s Corpse

Must read

ONDO – A group of soldiers numbering about twenty, on January 29th 2014, reportedly stormed the General Hospital, Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state, beating up doctors, nurses and other employees.

It was gathered that the soldiers, whose identities are yet to be known, were aggrieved because the hospital refused to accommodate the corpse of one of their colleagues in the hospital’s morgue the previous Tuesday.

Some of the hospital personnel escaped, while others were beaten severely, sustaining various degrees of injury.

It was learnt that the soldiers brought the corpse on Tuesday evening with the intention of depositing it in the hospital’s morgue, but the hospital management declined, saying there was no space for additional bodies.

One of the workers said, “The efforts of the soldiers to deposit the corpse were unsuccessful. On Wednesday, they came back and started beating everybody.”
The spokesman for the command, Mr. Wole Ogodo, is however reported to have said he was unaware of the incident.
