A detachment of soldiers have confiscated the Friday’s edition of the Leadership Newspaper at various points across the country. according to reports.
The soldiers who claimed they were carrying out orders impounded the entire consignment of the newspaper heading to the north and southern regions of the country.
A consignment of the newspaper headed to the south-east was seized at the Abuja airport. A road block was setup close to the tollgate on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway which blocked the newspaper’s van heading to Kaduna and confiscated and destroyed the entire consignment of the paper.
Another consignment of the paper heading to Kogi and Edo states was also intercepted and seized by soldiers in Kontagora while in Benin soldiers mopped up copies of the newspaper for newspaper vendors.
The reason for the action could not be ascertained as at press time.
