ABUJA, Nigeria — A pastor identified as John Ogbonna has reportedly passed away while fasting and praying on a mountain along Arab Road in Abuja.
Ogbonna, who hailed from Ohazara in Ebonyi State, was known for his deep commitment to spiritual retreats and extended periods of prayer.
A disturbing video obtained by The Trent shows Ogbonna’s lifeless body on the mountain, with reports indicating that he had been fasting and praying over the situation in Nigeria before his untimely demise.
His body was reportedly discovered on September 22, 2024.
In the video, a voice speaking in Igbo can be heard saying, “Ebonyi people, Ohaozara people, see where our brother ended. Pastor John Ogbonna. He is on a mountain along Arab Road in Abuja, where he died since yesterday. Today is the 23rd day of September, 2024. Please spread this information to reach his family or anyone who knows him.”
According to a follower of the late pastor, his body was found alongside his Bible and other prayer materials.
“His lifeless body was discovered, causing sorrow among his congregation, who were awaiting his return,” the follower said.
“He was known for his deep faith and commitment to spiritual retreats, often going to the mountain for extended periods of prayer.”
Ogbonna’s death has left his church community in mourning as they grieve the loss of their spiritual leader.
Congregants are now praying for his peaceful rest, reflecting on his devotion to both his faith and his community.
