Some men have been accused of thinking with their penis – but how much general knowledge do they actually have about their genitals?

1. Smoking can shorten your penis

But all hope is not lost, as quitting cigarettes can help men achieve firmer erections faster.
2. Stop trying DIY blow jobs
Only three in a thousand men are actually flexible enough to pleasure themselves orally, according to research of sexologist Alfred Kinsey.
Plus you should probably just try to get out more.
3. Yee-haa, cowgirl
The most common cause of penile trauma (ouch) occurs during sex cowgirl-style. According to the Advances in Urology journal, the cowgirl position is responsible for half of all penile fractures during sexual intercourse.
The doggy style position is bringing up the rear (sorry) owing to 29% of the injuries. Less yee-haa and more yeeouch.
4. Glory is not just in the morning
The NHS reckon that most healthy men have three to five erections during any normal night’s sleep.
The cause of night-time erections isn’t completely understood, but they most commonly occur during the rapid eye movement phase of sleep.
5. The love muscle is not actually a muscle
An erection is caused by a build-up of blood which causes the penis to swell and stiffen.
It doesn’t contain a single muscle.
6. Growers and showers
Smaller penises tend to increase more in girth and length when they become hard.
And a study published in the Journal of Sex Research said there’s a more obvious difference in penis size while flaccid.
But ‘showers’ don’t get much bigger when aroused. So stop showing off.
