Are you in Ekiti State? Do you smoke?
Well, the Ekiti State government has on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 inaugurated the Smoke-Free Law Enforcement Committee whose duty is to ensure the enforcement of the prohibition of smoking in public places law passed by the state assembly in 2012.
Anyone caught smoking in public in the state now risks going to prison for three months. The Committee is led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Dr. Bolanle Fakunle.
Security agencies like the Police, Civil Defence Corps and Environmental Health Officers have been empowered by law to arrest culprits and ensure that they are brought to justice.
