6 Dead, 8 Hospitalized As Cholera Outbreak Hits Ebonyi

No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead and eight others hospitalised as a result of an outbreak of a disease suspected to be Cholera in Ebonyi State.

This was disclosed via the states Director of Public Health and Disease Control, Dr. Christian Achi in Abakaliki, Ebony state’s capital.

According to him, four among the six deceased persons died in Amachi Community Abakaliki Local Government, whereas the remaining two died in Edomia and Ekelegu Communities of Ebonyi Local Government Area respectively.

Additionally, Achi told New Telegraph that eight persons are currently receiving treatment in heath centres around the affected communities.

The outbreak of Cholera disease in recent times is becoming a subject for concern.

Before now, the disease has killed quite several persons including 8 persons in Anambra, 30 in Bayelsa, 20  in Rivers, and quite a handful inJigawa, Plateau among other states in the country.
