‘Simon Ekpa is not working for me or IPOB’ – Nnamdi Kanu

Must read

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has revealed that his self-acclaimed disciple Simon Ekpa who ordered a recent 5-day sit-at-home in the South-East region is not working for him.

Kanu made this known through a statement issued by his lead lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, adding that the Ekpa’s activities betray the tenets of IPOB.

Vanguard reported on Friday, December 16, 2022, that IPOB also issued a statement signed by his spokesperson, Emma Powerful that Ekpa is not a member and will be exposed.

The Finland-based controversial IPOB member has been championing sit-at-home in the Southeastern part of Nigeria.

Ejiofor in the statement, however, said Ekpa should be investigated for his actions, according to Kanu.

The lawyer quoted Kanu as saying, “Simon Ekpa is not a member of IPOB. He should be investigated for the killings in the South-East and cannot be fighting for the self-determination of the Biafra people.

“The fact is clear. Simon Ekpa is being sponsored by persons we cannot mention this time to destroy the South-East. He cannot say he is fighting for Biafra’s emancipation and still instigating criminal elements to go after the people he claims he is fighting to protect.

“Members of the Eastern Security Network are somewhere killing our innocent people. This should tell you that Ekpa is acting out scripts by people who want to devour our lands. Ekpa is not my follower.

“He cannot say he is my follower or disciple. I condemn Simon Ekpa’s activities.

“I never sanctioned any sit-at-home declared by Ekpa. IPOB never authorised or sanctioned it. Go about your normal business and disregard the threats by Ekpa. He is one of the people who do not want peace in our region. Ekpa is not working for me or IPOB.”

IPOB Celebrates Alleged Discovery Of Crude Oil In Northern Nigeria

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said Biafra can exist now as a sovereign state following the discovery of crude oil in the North.

IPOB said this in a statement on Friday, November 25, 2022, adding that the discovery was an answer to the prayers of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu who had prayed that the Northern region should discover petroleum in commercial quantity to facilitate the Biafra exit.

The self-determination group made this known according to the statement signed by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, flagged off the commercial production of crude oil and gas from the $3 billion Kolmani Integrated Development Project.

The Kolmani project is located along the fields of Gombe and Bauchi, with Oil Prospecting Licence 809 and 810, lying in the Gongola Basin of the Upper Benue Trough, joining the two northern states.

While addressing the country at the event, Buhari said the Kolmani River field attracted $3 billion worth of investments.

Reacting, IPOB said the Northern region has been reluctant to let Biafra happen because it benefits from the proceeds of the crude oil in the South-East, despite having solid minerals.

The statement partly read, “Northern Nigeria has large deposits of many solid minerals. But because they thirst for oil, they are ready to do unimaginable things because of oil in Biafra land.

“Today, God Almighty has settled the contraption’s age-long problem of unity occasioned by crude oil.

“Crude oil discovery in the North will for certain settle this forced unity if indeed they are truthful in settling Nigeria’s problem. Oil or no oil, Biafrans are not interested. All we need is a conducive environment to do our business without fear of terrorists at our borders.

“The discovery of over a billion barrels of crude oil in Gongola Basin is another important thing that has happened to the Northerners.”

It continued, “The prophecy of Nnamdi Kanu has come true because he prayed in one of his Radio Biafra broadcasts that God should give to the North oil so that Nigeria’s problem will be solved once and for all.

“Now that every component part of Nigeria has oil, can we all go our separate ways and mind our own businesses?”
