A farmer received the shock of his life when his goat gave birth to a kid with four forelegs and two hind legs which summed up to six legs just like those of a spider.
The strange goat, now dubbed ‘Spider goat’ was born in Chaohu, Anhui Province, eastern China few weeks ago.
The three weeks old goat which weighed 5kg at birth was born alongside two other normal goats and this has left the Chinese farmer in total confusion as to how the mutation came about.
Out of over 400 goats owned by the the stunned farmer, Xiao Qibin, who started running his farm about a year ago, the six-legged baby goat became the most popular across the globe.
Explaining how the ‘spider goat’ was born, Qibin said, “During the labour, I saw the nanny goat was having difficulty.
“I saw two legs came out at first, but surprisingly another four followed when the kid was fully born.”
The farmer initially doubted if the mutant goat would survive after it was born but is surprised that the animal is growing quite fast and turned out to be one of the most playful among the others.
Qibin even disclosed that the mutant goat has an extra ordinary appetite beyond his expectation.
Initially, the six legs were of similar length but as the goat grew, two of the forelegs became shorter than the rest and can no longer touch the ground.
According to Mail Online, the farmer said he will not take the kid to the vet to remove the two extra legs because he wants it to grow up ‘naturally and happily.’
