LAGOS, Nigeria — An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Remedy S. Yange, tragically passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, after collapsing on a street in Lagos State.
Yange, who was on leave from his duties at the EFCC’s Benue Office, had reportedly been spending time with his family in Lagos when the incident occurred.
According to sources, the officer slumped abruptly and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Until his untimely death, Yange was a highly regarded EFCC operative known for his significant contributions to the investigation and prosecution of financial crimes in Nigerian courts.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the incident and expressed the agency’s condolences to the late officer’s family.
“We can confirm the unfortunate passing of one of our operatives, Remedy S. Yange, in Lagos. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his death,” Oyewale said in a brief statement.
