ABUJA, Nigeria – A clash between Gbagyi and Hausa tricyclists has resulted in several injuries in the 3rd Avenue area of Gwarinpa, a city centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday, April 24, 2023. Videos circulating on social media show the extent of the damage.
Residents in the area confirmed that the conflict was between the two groups of tricyclists, known for their rivalry in the transport sector.
A resident said anonymously, “The fighting is between Gbagyi and Hausa Keke Napep riders. It’s happening on 3rd Avenue, where I live, and we can’t go out. Several persons have been injured.”

As of press time, The Trent was unable to independently confirm the cause of the clash.
Despite attempts to contact the police for comments or reactions, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, did not respond to phone calls and text messages.
The incident has left residents of the area in fear, with some calling for calm and urging the government to intervene in the situation before it escalates further.
