Sepp Blatter has vowed to appeal his 8-year-ban from all football related activities. The 79-year-old alongside UEFA boss, Michel Platini were on Monday, December 21, 2015 banned from all football related activities for 8 years after being found guilty of breaches surrounding a £1.3m ($2m) which was paid to Platini in 2011.
Blatter is set to test that judgement at the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS). Speaking shortly after the verdict, he said:
“I will fight for me and for FIFA.
“Suspended 8 years for what?’
“We go immediately to the appeal committee and to CAS.”
The embattled FIFA president is also of the opinion that the ethics committee do not even have the right to ban him.
“This committee has no right to go against the President of Fifa,” he explained. According to him, only the FIFA congress has the right to send him out of office.
